Kluiter received this award due
to years of service to the Lions Club and the community. Currently serving as Treasurer of the local
service organization, he is charged with the ongoing review and maintenance of
club revenues and expenses. “Bill has
written many checks on behalf of the Grimes Lions Club” stated club President
Steve Reneker. “Those checks have helped
people to see, children to participate in camps, and have given students a
little assistance getting through college.”
Bill has been extensively
involved in the eye screening program that Lions conduct at local pre-schools;
a program that helps educators and parents identify early warning signs of
potential sight issues.
Kluiter is the most recent of
several Grimes Lions Club members to have received the award, which was named in
honor of longtime Executive Secretary Treasurer Warren Coleman, who gave freely
his time and dedication to the Iowa Lions Foundation and the programs which it
supports. The award is conferred to
persons who demonstrate community service and can only be made possible by a
contribution of $1,000 to the Iowa Lions Foundation.
